Historic London Town & Gardens

The location is a 23-acre museum and park located in Edgewater MD on the South River. London town was a colonial seaport town founded in 1683 near Annapolis. It served as a prominent trade post until the Revolutionary war caused its decline. At its peak in the 1720’s, London town rivaled nearby Annapolis in terms of economic activity with merchants, planters, carpenters, tavern-keepers, mariners, and blacksmiths all calling this area home. Very few colonial buildings have lasted to the 20th century, but the impressive brick William Brown House can still be seen on site where it served as a tavern for travelers crossing the South River.

The site had many lives between then and now but now it serves as a historic and archeological site.

Hosting weddings and other large events in addition to the countless hours of local volunteers is what helps to keep this site open and available for other to enjoy. Enjoy the site including the 1 mile trail through the gardens during the wedding and if possible, on your own during the weekend. There is a scheduled guided tour through the Brown House and in addition to the museum on site. There is more information on the website and Flip and I took the tour when my dad visited last summer and it is definitely worth it, especially if you are a history buff.

Killarney House & Pub

From their website...
“Killarney House & Pub is located in the suburban area of Davidsonville Maryland about 20 minutes from Annapolis. The restaurant offers great dining in its pine walled interior with high ceilings and antique farm tools decorating the walls. In the warmer months we have outdoor dining on our plant and flower bedecked porch. And when things are cooler you can request a table by the fireplace in the restaurant.
Our pub is cozy and filled with classic advertising signs from Guinness and other Irish favorites. You find a friendly and knowledgable bar staff waiting to help you pick the perfect pint from our selection of brews or to guide you in choosing a fine Irish whiskey. Of course, all your favorite American beers are here, too!”
